Art Journal Challenge - August 1, 2023
Halloween Hi-jinx! Part One.
In keeping with the theme of the August issue of Painting World Magazine we will create a Halloween-inspired page this month.
Part One will give you the line drawing we will use, a partial supply list, and hopefully some spooky but not scary inspiration.
Our subject for this challenge is obtained in a visit to a charming witch's humble abode. Wherein we notice a collection of potions sitting on a shelf, hanging on the wall.
The line drawing is very simple, with a straight-on view. Adjust the size to fit your journal.
The challenge is to give life to the page. Yes, for this one you can consider yourself Dr. Frankenstein. Your design can be a cutesy style or something more realistic, it could be retro or maybe you want to give it a steampunk feel... the choice is yours.
In the photos, you will see some of the things I may use in mine. My paints will most likely all be DecoArt® Americana Acrylics. I pulled a few of my favorite colors for Halloween. I gathered up some of my Halloween scrapbook paper, a sheet of cork, some Tim Holtz® stencils, and some random Halloween wood pieces I had in my stash. There are also a few metal 'labels'...not sure where they are from.
