Spring is ever closer. Mardi Gras is March 1st this year and St. Patrick's Day comes shortly after. It won't be long until summer is a warm breeze away. A time of renewal, spring brings so much with it. Buds of flowers and blades of grass, the chirps of newborn baby birds, and the awakening of creatures to a new day.
I am quite often inspired more in the spring than any other time of year, even though I don't typically paint 'spring things.' A trip to my favorite art festival once again has inspired me...I just need to take the time to lift that brush. What about you? What inspires you?
Hopefully, this issue will bring some of that inspiration. A quick pictorial that looks at the fun and ever vibrant art of Mardi Gras masks should bring out the colors for you!
We have two fun summer-themed projects in this issue... Margaret Riley is back with a fun project that uses dollar store surfaces and a new artist, Gigi Shattler brings us a fun, mixed media piece that takes us under the sea!
As usual, our Promoting Painting section is overflowing with some great painting ideas!
So, enjoy Mardi Gras and show your green on St. Patrick's Day...and get ready for spring!
Smiles!
