Palette
Decoart Americana acrylic paint:
- DA067 Lamp (Ebony) Black
- DA240 Cool White
- DA031 Baby Pink
- DA274 Carousel Pink
- DA300 Dragon Fruit
Brushes
- Princeton Select Short Liner 18/0
- Loew Cornell Angular brush ¼
Other materials
- Paper palette
- White & blue nail polish
- Base & Topcoat
- Dotting tool
- Acetone
Preparation
Start off by washing your hands thoroughly. Then either apply your press-on nails or your base coat nail polish. Let it dry fully and apply 2 coats of white nail polish on your index and pinky and apply blue nail polish on the rest of your nails.
Directions
1.1 Clouds: Paint clouds with a dotting tool and Cool White
1.2 Use the short liner 18/0 to paint stars in Cool white. Use the dotting tool and the short liner 18/0 to paint hearts in Carousel Pink. Use the dotting tool to paint dots scattered around the nail in Cool White and Carousel Pink.
1.3 Use the short liner 18/0 to paint details on the clouds in Baby Pink.
1.4 Repeat steps 1.1 to 1.3 on your thumb.
2.1 Hot air balloon: Using the short liner 18/0, paint 3 hearts one in the other for the hot air balloon in Baby Pink, Carousel Pink, and Dragon fruit. Start with the bigger one to make sure it fits well on your nail.
2.2 Paint the hot air balloon basket with the short Liner 18/0 in Carousel Pink. Paint an oval with the short Liner 18/0 in Dragon Fruit. Paint stripes in Cool White using the short liner 18/0.
2.3 Paint 2 lines across the hot air balloon with the short liner 18/0 and Lamp (Ebony) Black. Continue by painting 3 hearts in between these hearts. Paint 4 stripes coming from either side of the basket and from the middle to the hot air balloon.
2.4 Paint a line across the hot air balloon with the short liner 18/0 and Lamp (Ebony) Black. Paint hearts and dots in Cool white using the dotting tool and the short liner 18/0.
2.5 Repeat steps 1.1 to 1.3 for the background (clouds, hearts, stars & dots).
3.1 Hearts: Paint a small heart with the short liner 18/0 in Baby Pink. Outline that first heart in Carousel Pink.
3.2 Continue outlining the hearts with Dragon fruit and then repeat with the 3 pinks until the whole nail is covered.
3.3 Repeat steps 3.1 & 3.2 on your pinky.
Finish
Apply a matte topcoat to seal in your design. If you accidentally got some nail polish on your skin, use your Loew Cornell Angular brush ¼ dipped in acetone (or nail polish remover) and clean up your cuticles.
